Steam Whistle is proud of our many Green Initiatives, the reasons we’ve been named 1 of only 21 “Green Buildings” in Toronto by the Clean Air Partnership.

BIO DIESEL

Since January 2007, Steam Whistle has been running its fleet of delivery trucks on BIO DIESEL. With our fleet crossing Ontario each week to deliver to Bars, Beer and Liquor stores, we knew it might be difficult to find Bio Diesel when we need it, so we chose the convenient option of having Canada Clean Fuels bring Bio Diesel to us by tanker load (also fueled by Bio Diesel) 2 or 3 times a week and fill all of our trucks on site.

We use B20 grade which is 20% Bio Fuel (a 50/50 blend of recycled restaurant grease and soy fuel), mixed with regular diesel. In the warmer summer months we are able to go to a higher grade of Bio Fuel. The odd time, in the far corners of the province, you may see our trucks filling up at regular stations where Bio Diesel isn’t available, but we hope in time, as demand results in better availability, we’ll be able to run 100% Bio Fuel. Today, it’s a good first step.
